Here’s a new spin on the classic tomato pincushion.
Are you familiar with the little strawberry that comes along with that tomato? Do you know the purpose of the strawberry? It's an emery pincushion. Its purpose is to keep your pins and needles sharp. It’s filled with a mineral called "emery". Emery resembles fine metal shavings. It’s used as an abrasive in industrial applications and on things like emery boards.
We can all purchase the tiny strawberry, but wouldn’t you like a larger emery pincushion? A tomato sized emery pincushion? I hope so because here it is!
This felt tomato measures approximately 3 inches (7.62 cm) across and almost 2 inches (5.08 cm) high.
It’s filled with a full 1/2 cup of emery. I didn’t add any fiberfill or any other type of filler. It’s pure emery, tightly packed to keep those pins and needles sharp.
The emery is enclosed in its own little casing inside the felt to be sure that no emery escapes through pinholes.
I love this pincushion! It’s very heavy so it won't slide around your work surface, it holds your pins and needles, they're sharpened with every jab, and it‘s cute. What more could you want from a pincushion?
